Hey again!
I’m heading south of the wall down to England for a wedding this week. It’s about a 9-hour drive, which to people in Scotland is insane, but I’ve talked to people in Canada, the USA, and Australia who will travel 4 hours for a BBQ and come home again. All about perspective right?

Want professional-sounding audio? You need Auphonic.
Brandon from the Mad Fientist podcast recommended Auphonic to me before Eilidh and I started Generally Spooky History. It was a game-changer.
It meant that our audio sounded professional from day one, even with no experience in audio production. It automatically boosts and levels all the audio while removing background noise so your voice rings out true.
I’ve subscribed to the monthly S package for almost 3 years now.
Sell Your Podcast like This Guy Sold Me a Knife
When I was 17, I lived with a chef, and he had the most beautiful set of kitchen knives I’d ever seen.
I was easily impressed and wanted to be a “foodie” so knew I needed to get my own knife and wield its power all for myself.
It just so happened that we were heading to a food show. I knew the prize I desired and the search began.
We rock up to this guy’s stall, he’s dressed in chef whites and is effortlessly chopping through a turnip with his shiny chefs knife. My eyes lit up as I try and play it cool.
I ask questions, he politely answers I play hardball and announce I might be back later. (the knife only cost £35 FYI, I should have just bought it)
We came back. I ask more questions. I hum and haw, I watch him chop a butternut squash. I ask even more questions. He suddenly stops me mid-sentence.
“Look. It’s a knife. It cuts things. You want it or not?”
Me sheepishly: “…Yes please…”
If he hadn’t straight up asked, I wouldn’t have bought the knife. But he put me on the spot so I said yes.
The same is true with your podcast, you hope people will listen, you wish people listened, but do you ever straight up ask people to listen?
If you are in a conversation about podcasts, stop and ask: “I have a podcast, will you listen to it?” And then sit there. They might just say yes.
